Kohli, Rohit to apologize?

The Indian Premier League Season 11, which started with a bang is about to conclude soon. Though there are some matches to be played at the league level, till yesterday all teams played 12 matches each. Sun Risers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings teams occupied the top slot this season. These two teams confirmed their berths for the playoff. All other teams have to compete to enter playoffs.

It may be recalled that Delhi Dare Devils team already apologized to its fans. The players and management of Delhi DareDevils team had to release an emotional statement addressing the fans. They apologized for not performing as per expectations and said sorry for disappointing them. There are some more teams in the list, who are eager to apologize to fans. Royal Challengers Bangalore team led by Virat Kohli is in the forefront.

It is true that yesterday’s victory filled Royal Challengers Bangalore team with enthusiasm and hope. But for Bangalore to enter playoffs, it needs more than a mere win. The equations of the other teams should be in their favor. That is not impossible, but cricket analysts feel that it is very difficult. Hence, it is necessary to discuss RCB which is in a precarious position. Bangalore team gave solace to its fans after they gave up hopes. And with its defeat in yesterday’s match, Punjab team made its chances of entering playoffs critical.

Mumbai Indians (MI), led by Rohit Sharma is in the third position from the bottom in the points table. No one expected that MI team which entered the race as title favorite would perform so badly. It lost the opportunity of entering playoffs at a time it was steadily winning the matches. If MI team doesn’t lose even a single match, then it might have a chance to enter playoffs.

Amongst the top five, Sun Risers is in the number one position with 9 wins. The next place is of Chennai Super Kings that bagged 8 victories. There are three teams with six wins each. While Kolkata is ahead with its run rate, Rajasthan is next and Punjab stood in the last place. As these three teams have six points each, the teams which maintain their run rate without losing a single match will have a chance to enter playoffs. Depending on the performance of all the three-team, one will know if Mumbai or Bangalore or both enter playoffs. The callousness of Bangalore and Mumbai teams has led to this critical situation.
